Windows Media Connect Not Finding Music

Monday, January 23rd, 2006

A problem with Windows Media Connect has been plaguing me recently, and I just found a solution. The problem is that the XBox 360 wouldn’t play music from the PC. It could see the PC, but when I’d try to get a list of genres or songs or artists, it would look for a while […]

Blog Spam: I don’t get it.

Saturday, January 21st, 2006

Most of the spam I’ve been getting lately (about 20 or 30 spams a day) is of a sort that I just don’t get. It seems someone has written a spam engine that knows how to post WordPress comments, and these comments take this form: {0} {1} {2} Where {0} is aa random complimentary phrase, […]

Backup Woes Continued

Saturday, January 21st, 2006

After trying Nero BackItUp and Handy Backup, now I’m trying Genie Backup Manager Home Edition 6.0.  So far it looks like it has the features I need – it can resume a backup on media failure (which Nero can’t) and it can it can verify the media (which Handy Backup doesn’t do), but I’m having […]

Google Videos Now Available for Purchase

Monday, January 9th, 2006

Looks like Google has refreshed the video.google.com page. Two visible changes: They show a sampling of both random and popular videos on the front page, and now there’s a Purchased Videos link at the top right that shows you videos that you’ve purchased. You can filter searches for videos that are free, or videos that […]

Google Pack

Friday, January 6th, 2006

Well it wasn’t called GooglePlex and it doesn’t include RealPlayer, but Google did introduce a software bundle today. It’s called Google Pack. It was the inclusion of RealPlayer that made it sound like a bogus rumour; but I still don’t really see the point.

XBox Site Still Broken for Firefox Users

Wednesday, November 23rd, 2005

The problem I mentioned yesterday accessing xbox.com from Firefox is still happening. Seems like a pretty big problem to go unfixed for so long.

Robotron!

Tuesday, November 15th, 2005

They’ve announced what some of the launch titles will be in the XBox Live Marketplace for the XBox 360. Some cool stuff in there: As for the initial Xbox Live Arcade titles, these have now been locked down, and purchase prices are almost entirely in the 400 to 800 points ($5 to $10) range. Games […]

Domain Names in Canada

Monday, November 14th, 2005

I wish DNS was a little more centralized. I mean, it’s cool that it’s as distributed as it is because that’s what makes it so reliable, but being in Canada, sometimes I want to register a .ca domain, and that means dealing with a different company. I use Yahoo! Domains in the US, mainly because […]

iTunes Menus

Friday, November 4th, 2005

One thing I don’t like about the new iTunes interface is the way they do menus.  This is especially cheap looking:  They simply XOR a rectangle over the selected menu when you click on it.  Notice that the left edge of the XOR rectangle is actually hitting bits of the window border. Compare this with […]

Where It Stands

Here’s a clever blog. Must hurt his indexability that every post is a picture, though.
