Google Desktop Search Automatically Updates Itself
Micrsoft AntiSpyware popped up an alert this morning that "An Unknown
Startup Program googledesktopupdate.exe Requires Approval".
Apparently Google Desktop Search has the ability to download updates
and install them without asking me. There is no "automatic
update" setting that I can see; it just downloaded it and scheduled it
to run the next time I reboot. I assume it's a real Google update
because the EXE is digitally signed by "Google, Inc." by VeriSign.
If Microsoft did this, people would be screaming bloody murder.
Seriously, shouldn't they know better?
